Why do we love bamboo?
As kind to the environment as it is to you
Bamboo fabric is luxuriously soft - the vegan and cruelty-free alternative to mulberry silk. As one of the fastest growing and sustainable plants in the world, it amazingly grows up to a metre each day! Being very tall and dense means it creates high yields per acre, saving land. Bamboo is also organic, not requiring pesticides or chemicals, and also needing a third less water than cotton. It also helps clean the air we breathe, by absorbing five times more CO² from the air than the equivalent amount of hardwood trees, as well as releasing 35% more oxygen than them too. Harvesting is also sustainable, the process leaves the roots (containing carbon) in the ground, allowing the plant to continue to grow and be quickly ready to harvest again.
The raw bamboo fibre used in our products is Ecocert organic farming certified. For nearly three decades, Ecocert's expertise in the certification of sustainable products, systems and services has been one of the most reliable and rigorous on the market. The Ecocert brand is the benchmark for organic and ecological labelling, with a high guarantee of traceability.
Toxic chemical free
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100
All of our bamboo products are independently tested and certified to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® to be free from any harmful chemicals or substances. If a textile article carries the STANDARD 100 label, you can be certain that every component of this article, i.e. every thread, button and other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances and that the article therefore is harmless for human health. The test is conducted by independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes on the basis of the extensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog. In the test they take into account numerous regulated and non-regulated substances, which may be harmful to human health. In many cases the limit values for the STANDARD 100 go beyond national and international requirements. The criteria catalog is updated at least once a year and expanded with new scientific knowledge or statutory requirements.
Fresher for longer
It is bacteria that makes your bedding smell unfresh, because moisture doesn’t sit on the surface of our fabric as it does with synthetic fabrics, the air can’t get to the odour-causing bacteria. Bamboo material is antibacterial and stays fresher for longer. This also means that it doesn't need to be washed as frequently as cotton and at only at 30°C, saving energy. The lightweight and strong fabric dries very quickly, either on a line or tumble dried on cool.
Extra eco touches
Our products come in their own reusable, plastic-free bamboo bags. The buttons on the bedding are made from sustainably sourced coconut shell, plus all deliveries come in recycled and recyclable card boxes with plastic-free packaging.
The skin friendly fabric
Silky soft and hypoallergenic
Our bamboo bedding is much softer than most other linens, with an equivalent feel of over 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton. In addition to the softness feeling amazing against your skin, the anti-friction properties reduce skin irritation, making it the perfect choice for those suffering with eczema and skin conditions. Plus we’re not forgetting your hair, being anti-static means that you wake up with less bed head frizz and split ends too!
Being highly breathable, creates a continuous air flow, naturally insulating in the winter and cooling in the summer. Alongside helping your skin, it also prevents sleep disruption due to feeling overheated or too cold.
Moisture-wicking and breathable
Bamboo fabric is extremely absorbent and breathable, up to three times that of cotton. This helps keep you comfortable at night, plus your bedding fresher, reducing the frequency of washing. Bamboo’s naturally antibacterial and moisture-wicking properties create an inhospitable environment for parasites such as dust mites and bed bugs. As well as being kind to your skin, this also helps asthma and allergy sufferers.
